Lake Tegernsee and the mountains with children

I'm definitely a summer person, hand on heart. In January, my two men convinced me to go to Lake Tegernsee for a few days, to the mountains and the snow. If you're going to have winter, then do it properly. And indeed, Lake Tegernsee really is a very beautiful spot.
Arrival and snow security
Just an hour from Munich and about four hours from Frankfurt, the area around Lake Tegernsee is perfect for a short trip by car or train. The snow season at Lake Tegernsee runs roughly from Christmas to Easter. You can check the current snow conditions here .
Our hotel
We opted for an apartment with breakfast near Lake Tegernsee. The Lederer Hof is a very nice boutique apartment hotel, with stylish alpine rooms, kitchenettes, and living rooms, as well as breakfast included. If you stay in the Tegernsee community, you receive the Tegernsee Card as a hotel guest, which is really worth it! It gives you 50% off gondola rides, thermal baths, and much more. As a family, you can quickly save a lot.

What can you do
On the first day, we hiked around Lake Spitzingsee , pulling Levi behind us on the sled. He loved it, and we were able to enjoy the beautiful view of the frozen lake. After the hike, we stopped at the Albert Link Hut for delicious Kaiserschmarren (smothered pancakes) and potato pancakes. There's also a toboggan hill right in front of the hut.
In the afternoon, we relaxed for a few hours at the Badepark Bad Wiessee thermal spa . Thermal spas are a tricky thing, but this one is really great for kids. It's not particularly big, but it's really nice for a few hours of splashing around after a day in the snow.

On the second day we took the Wallbergbahn cable car up to the summit and were rewarded with this view:

The gondola ride up the mountain is an experience in itself. Snow is guaranteed up there! From the summit, there are various hiking and tobogganing trails down into the valley. Tip: Always listen to the locals' recommendations about which route you should and shouldn't take. We were a bit stubborn in choosing our route down to the valley, which resulted in a rather adventurous descent. But it was still very beautiful!

Restaurants
Good home cooking, but very, very tasty: Haus Göttfried in Kreuth
A little more stylish, but also very tasty and relaxed: Postillon am Tegernsee
Stylish and directly on Lake Tegernsee: Aran Tegernsee
budget
Tegernsee is a relatively expensive area. The further you venture into the surrounding area, the more relaxed it becomes, including in terms of prices.
Our apartment directly in Tegernsee was around 150 EUR per night.
