IBIZA MIT KIND

IBIZA WITH KIDS

IBIZA WITH CHILDREN

Ibiza is currently one of Europe's trendiest destinations. With just a two-hour flight, the island can be reached in no time, and with Condor, you can find great flights even during peak season. My tip: Book directly through the Condor website. First, select only the basic fare and then add the luggage you REALLY need. We spent five days in Ibiza and flew there in August with two adults and a two-year-old, each with a 20kg and an 8kg suitcase, for a total of €400.

The best time to visit Ibiza is from June to September. We decided to go in August, right in the middle of the holiday season, and it was one of the worst travel ideas I've ever had. Ibiza is a beautiful island. But not in August. If you want to go to Ibiza, fly in May or October and accept that the temperatures might be a bit milder.

The most beautiful beaches in Ibiza

Ibiza has countless coves. You'll probably read different things on every blog about which ones you should visit. My favorite for being child-friendly was definitely Aguas Blancas. And of course, the beaches on Formentera are simply gorgeous, but more on that in a moment.

The best restaurants in Ibiza

Ibiza also has a lot to offer in terms of cuisine! However, you often have to make a reservation at the good restaurants, at least in high season. I find that awful, but I've accepted it because it actually happened to us that we were turned away. My tip: if you don't want to commit to a place, at least call ahead and ask if there's any availability. My top restaurants were: La Paloma inland. Incredibly delicious, healthy food and a dreamy setting in a lime garden. There's also a small playground, ideal for families with kids. A seaside location that's still relatively affordable is Aiyanna. With a view of Cala Nova, you can sip sangria here. General tip: Check the prices before you sit down. We once sat in a restaurant where the cheapest fish dish started at 70 euros. We then ate some tapas and left. Hahaha.

Lunch at La Paloma. Incredibly delicious and a wide selection for vegetarians and vegans!

At Aiyanna Ibiza you can enjoy your sangria with a view of Cala Nova.

Top excursions in Ibiza

To explore the island, you should definitely rent a car. We picked ours up right at the airport and returned it there. If you've had enough of the beach and pool, you should definitely take a day trip to Ibiza Town . You can actually spend hours strolling through the alleys or even walking all the way up to the fortress. Prices are pretty steep in Ibiza Town, too; at €4 per scoop, Levi only managed to get an ice cream.

Another highlight in Ibiza are the sunsets. Actually, it's more the places where you can watch the sunset. The most impressive is probably Es Vedra. We also really enjoyed the atmosphere at Cala Comte , further back near the restaurants. Here, you can simply sit on the cliffs with a blanket and have a picnic.

And last but not least – Formentera , one of my highlights of this trip. The beaches on Formentera are amazing! Unfortunately, it was just too crowded in August. Be sure to take the first or second ferry at 7 or 8 a.m. This way, you'll have peace and quiet on the beach until at least 10 a.m. The day trip from Ibiza is unfortunately quite expensive at €40 per person for the ferry, but it's worth it!

TRAVEL BUDGET

Ibiza isn't a cheap island. We found great flights with Condor for the three of us for a total of €400. Levi was 2.5 years old at the time of the trip and therefore paid the full price. Our apartment cost €600 for four nights. (On top of that, there were costs for food, rental car, and excursions.)

Total travel budget: 1000 EUR
