ALNA Mogador: Your family paradise on Morocco's Atlantic coast
Some places just feel right from the very first moment. ALNA Mogador was exactly that kind of place for us. We spent a whole week here with our children and can honestly say: this place slowed us down, enchanted us, and did us an incredible amount of good as a family.
If you are looking for a family holiday in Morocco that is not loud, not crowded and yet full of experiences, then be sure to read on.
Arrive, breathe, want to stay
ALNA Mogador is located just outside Essaouira , surrounded by nature and very close to the Atlantic Ocean. Upon arrival, we immediately felt like we were stepping away from everyday life. No hustle and bustle, no hectic pace, just vast open spaces, wind, sea air, and that special light that makes Morocco so unique.
For us as a family, the location was perfect: secluded enough to truly relax, but close enough to take excursions.
Live like you're at home, only better
We stayed with our kids in one of the spacious houses and were immediately thrilled. Everything is open, bright, and lovingly designed with natural materials and Moroccan decor, warm colors, and plenty of living space.
What we particularly appreciated:
-
2 comfortable double beds and 2 bathrooms (worth their weight in gold with children!)
-
a fully equipped kitchen, even with a washing machine
-
a large terrace with a sea view
-
Plenty of space outside to play, run and explore
Our children were outside practically all day, barefoot, happy, free. Exactly how you want a family holiday to be.
Pool, garden & plenty of freedom for children
The outdoor area was a real highlight for us. The garden is spacious, natural, and perfect for children who love to explore. Our kids collected stones, watched animals, and discovered new corners every day. No organized activities were needed!
Breakfast & Moroccan hospitality
Every morning we were treated to a fresh, lovingly prepared breakfast. Various types of bread, fruit, yogurt, eggs, crepes, Nutella, jam, freshly squeezed orange juice and small Moroccan specialties – just right for a relaxed start to the day.
What's particularly lovely is the atmosphere: it's welcoming and friendly without being intrusive. You feel welcome but not watched – a perfect balance, especially with children.
Beaches, Wind & Adventure
The beaches around ALNA Mogador are wild, expansive, and incredibly beautiful. No mass tourism, no sun loungers, just pure nature. The highlight was the ride to the beach on the hotel's own quad bikes, which you can use anytime! The ride takes about 10 minutes. An absolute highlight was the Moroccan dinner on the beach, which ALNA organized for us. Definitely book it if you're there!
The region is also known for surfing and kitesurfing due to the wind, but even if you are not a surfer, the beach is definitely worth a visit.
Essaouira – a trip straight out of 1001 Nights
Of course, we also visited Essaouira and fell in love with it immediately. The car-free medina, the colorful markets, the harbor with its blue boats, and the relaxed atmosphere are simply ideal for families with children. I would say it's one of the most beautiful, child-friendly cities I've ever seen, and for me, after four trips to Morocco, it's the most beautiful city in the country.
Our conclusion: A place that will last.
ALNA Mogador is not a typical family hotel, and that's precisely what makes it so special. It's a place for families who:
-
Love nature
-
Appreciating space and freedom
-
want to slow down together
-
Want to experience Morocco authentically?
