On our two-week Seychelles trip with children, we spent the last two nights of our trip at the Canopy by Hilton before heading back to the airport. We wanted to truly enjoy the last days of our Seychelles trip, with plenty of pool time, good food, and a relaxed Kids Club, before our return flight. The Canopy delivered exactly that, and we were surprisingly quick to the airport on the way back.

Our conclusion upfront: Is the Canopy by Hilton family-friendly?

Yes, and very well thought out.

The Canopy by Hilton is a modern resort opened in 2024 with stylish design, which at the same time consciously caters to families without losing its boutique character.

We particularly liked:

• the huge selection of family-friendly room categories, from connecting family rooms to a family apartment with its own pool,

• the large main pool, from which we truly couldn't get our children out for hours,

• the Kids Club, small but nice, super stylishly designed and with very loving care,

• the huge children's menu in the restaurants,

• the shallow, calm beach directly in front of the resort, which is excellent for water sports with children,

• as well as the short, uncomplicated connection to the airport compared to other island destinations in the Seychelles.

The Canopy is therefore a resort that cleverly combines modern design and family-friendliness, ideal for concluding a Seychelles trip.

The Location: Anse La Mouche in the Southwest of Mahé

The Canopy by Hilton is located in Anse La Mouche, a bay on the southwest coast of Mahé, the largest island of the Seychelles. The bay is known for its particularly calm, crystal-clear water and a shallow, fine sandy beach that starts directly in front of the resort.

It's about a half-hour drive to Mahé Airport, which is a good value for Seychelles standards, especially compared to hotels on other islands that often require additional boat or flight transfers. For us, as the final stop of our trip, this was ideal: we could enjoy the last days in peace and still get to the airport quickly and stress-free on the day of departure.

In the surrounding area, a trip to the Jardin du Roi Spice Garden, which is only about a ten-minute drive away, as well as to the Takamaka Rum Distillery, is also worthwhile.

Family Apartment with Private Pool: Our Choice for the Last Few Days

For our last two nights, we booked a Family Apartment with its own private pool, and that was exactly the right decision. The apartment offers two bedrooms, a separate living area, and a small kitchenette, ideal for truly settling in after two weeks of travel. What I found particularly practical: there was a washing machine and even washing powder available on request to wash the most important things again. With kids, that's always super important for me, right? The private pool directly in front of the terrace was, of course, the absolute highlight for our children.

Which other rooms at the Canopy are suitable for families?

A big plus of the Canopy by Hilton is the variety of family-friendly room categories. Even if you don't need your own pool, you'll find the right solution for every family size:

• Family Connecting Garden View Room: two connecting rooms with garden view, ideal for families who want some privacy between parent and children's areas, for up to 4 people.

• King Two Bedroom Suite: spacious suite with two bedrooms for up to 5 people.

• Suite, 2 Bedrooms, Ocean View: approximately 165 square meters suite with sea view, separate living area and space for up to 5 people.

• Apartment, 2 Bedrooms, Pool: approximately 209 square meters, with private pool, kitchenette and separate living area, our category for the last few days.

• Apartment, 3 Bedrooms, Nature View: with approximately 263 square meters, the largest family option in the resort, for up to 6 people, perfect for large families or two families traveling together.

For all rooms: free cots are available on request, and many categories can be booked as connecting rooms.

The Kids Club: Small, but Really Fine

The Kids Club at the Canopy positively surprised us. It is deliberately kept compact, but very stylishly furnished and with truly loving care. Our children immediately felt comfortable there, which in turn gave us the opportunity to treat ourselves to a couple's massage. By the way, the spa at the Canopy is brand new and highly recommended. Our massage was heavenly!

The large pool: the absolute highlight for our children

The Canopy boasts no less than three pools on its grounds. The large main pool in the heart of the resort was the clear favorite for our children during the last days of our trip; we truly couldn't get them out of it for hours. Surrounded by loungers, parasols, and a pool bar, the area is somewhere you can spend the whole day! Also for eating or for a quick stroll to the beach. 

The Beach: Shallow, Calm, and Ideal for Water Sports

Directly in front of the resort lies the beach of Anse La Mouche, one of the calmest and shallowest beaches on Mahé. The water is usually crystal clear and has few waves, which makes it not only ideal for splashing around with small children but also excellently suited for water sports. Kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and snorkeling can be done directly from the hotel.

Eating at the Canopy: Fantastic, with a Huge Children's Menu

Culinarily, the Canopy truly impressed us:

• At the Avocet Restaurant, there's French-Creole fusion cuisine, available as a buffet and à la carte. The seafood pasta was absolutely amazing.

• The Tiger Bite offers Southeast Asian cuisine in tapas style, a nice change from the classic hotel restaurant. For the kids, the chef made rice with chicken or beef. They loved it!

• The Sega Bar is perfect for a cocktail by the pool and also offers a great menu with snack dishes like pizza, sandwiches, salads, and fish dishes. 

What we found particularly positive: The children's menu was truly huge and offered our children something different and delicious every evening, so that even after two weeks of travel, boredom at the dinner table didn't set in.

Spa and Relaxation for Parents

For parents looking for a little break, the Canopy offers the Afloya Spa, which provides treatments inspired by tropical botanicals. Beforehand, we received a questionnaire to find out which essential oil should be used for us. I found that really great! The offering is complemented by a modern 24-hour fitness center.
