Chalet d'Ert in the Dolomites - A Place of Power for Families in Val Badia

In the heart of the beautiful Val Badia valley, surrounded by the impressive Dolomites, lies Chalet d’Ert, a very special retreat for families and balm for your nervous system from the very first minute.

The house, built from larch wood, was designed by the Ladin architect Karl Heinz Castlunger and uniquely combines traditional architecture with timeless elegance. The semi-circular architecture is reminiscent of the historical Ladin barns in the region. Bob Ross couldn't have painted it more beautifully!

At Chalet d’Ert, two separate, family-friendly apartments with their own entrances await you:

  • the Master Flat for 6–7 people

  • the Junior Flat for 2–4 people

As soon as you step inside, you can feel it: this house tells stories. Valuable Ladin antiques, folkloric craftsmanship, and modern elements have been thoughtfully combined by the owner Giulia. Every piece of furniture, every detail has been carefully selected and harmoniously fits into the overall picture. The result is a warm, natural, and above all, deeply relaxed atmosphere.

Originally conceived as a private residence, the Chalet opened its doors to guests in 2017. Since then, families from all over the world have come here, and many describe the feeling as arriving home.

The vision? To create a relaxed, comfortable stay as a family, characterized by hospitality and a love for the region, its people, and traditions.

Why is Chalet d’Ert so special for families?

The Chalet has its own unique energy, a tranquility that regulates the nervous system and immediately slows you down. Large windows and direct access to the garden bring nature into the house and create light-filled rooms.

The entire design is focused on naturalness. Wherever possible, synthetic materials have been avoided. Lots of wood, soft shapes, hardly any sharp edges, perfectly natural for even the youngest guests.

Throughout the house, you'll find lovingly selected, playful elements – because the hosts are convinced that we all need space for our inner child. Perfect for a vacation with kids and also for parents.

Dogs are also very welcome at Chalet d'Ert (for a fee).

5 Activities with Children in Val Badia & Surrounding Area:

Around the Chalet, an incredible natural backdrop awaits, which was recently named among the Top Destinations for 2026 by National Geographic for good reason:

1. Family Hikes on the Alpe di Siusi & in Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park
Easy panoramic trails, alpine meadows, marmots, and cozy huts make even longer walks child-friendly and varied.

2. Summer Toboggan Run & Adventure Mountain at Piz Sorega
Take the gondola up for pure action: tobogganing, play stations, water worlds, and plenty of space to romp around with Dolomites views.

3. Farm Visits & Stable Experiences
Children can experience authentic South Tyrolean farming here: feed animals, taste fresh milk, and understand where food comes from.

4. Swimming Lakes & Nature Experiences
On warm days, small mountain lakes and natural playgrounds invite you to splash and swim.

5. Winter Fun in the Snow
In winter, the region transforms into a family paradise: ski lessons for kids, toboggan runs, winter hiking trails, and snowy forests right outside the door.

Services for a Relaxed Stay

You can tell how much passion goes into the details:

  • Daily bread service with fresh bread and croissants from the local bakery (can be ordered online, delivered in the morning, except Sundays in the off-season)

  • Welcome gift from the farm: homemade butter, fresh eggs, and milk – often still warm, personally delivered by the farmer right after milking

  • Extensive baby and children's equipment: stair gates, high chairs, travel beds with bedding, wooden toys, cuddly toys, children's dishes and cutlery, changing mat, baby bathtub – and more on request!

Chalet d’Ert combines traditional architecture, tradition, and family-friendliness with one of the most beautiful natural backdrops in the Dolomites, which is worth a trip no matter the season! A stylish hideaway for anyone who wants to experience South Tyrol authentically while enjoying a relaxed family stay.
