TreeCasa Hotel in Nicaragua: Family-Friendly Jungle Luxury in San Juan del Sur

If you're looking for an extraordinary accommodation in Nicaragua that combines nature, comfort, and a touch of adventure, then you should take a closer look at the TreeCasa Hotel & Resort in San Juan del Sur. The resort is located just outside the center of San Juan del Sur in a green, quiet hilly landscape and positions itself as an eco-luxury hideaway with pools, family accommodations, a restaurant, private beach access, and numerous experiences for all ages. We found this combination of a resort and an accommodation that seamlessly integrates into nature to be the perfect end to our trip for relaxing and simply doing nothing, or at least not much.

Why the TreeCasa Hotel is particularly great for families

The TreeCasa Hotel in San Juan del Sur is particularly exciting for families because it offers not only classic hotel rooms but also several spacious accommodation types for different family sizes. In addition, there are family-friendly extras such as several pools, a free shuttle to San Juan del Sur, and access to a private beach. We used the shuttle to the beach and were completely alone! You even get a cooler with water and towels.

While many accommodations in San Juan del Sur are strongly geared towards surfers, couples, or nightlife, TreeCasa offers a quieter environment outside the town center, but remains connected to the center by the free shuttle. You can reach swimming and surfing beaches in about 10 minutes and Playa Maderas in about 15 minutes.

Family-friendly amenities at TreeCasa Resort

Key family-friendly amenities include the two public outdoor pools. Our children's highlight: the water slides and the 3m diving platform at the lower pool. The lower pool is generally livelier and more suitable for children, while the upper pool scores with an incredible sea view and as an ideal spot for a sundowner.

Important for parents: Many accommodations have living areas, kitchens or kitchenettes, multiple bathrooms, and balconies or terraces. The TreeCasa Hotel is also great for larger families thanks to its family rooms and bungalows. Even if you prefer a combination of a hotel room and an apartment, you'll be happy here. Especially ideal with a baby or small children!

What room options are available at the TreeCasa Hotel?

1. Family Suite – ideal for families of up to 6 to 8 people

The Family Suite is one of the most obvious options for families. It accommodates 6 to 8 people, includes two bedrooms, a living area, two bathrooms, and two balconies. For larger families who want to live together under one roof and still have enough privacy, this is a very suitable choice.

2. Cabins – suitable for smaller families

The Cabins are ideal for smaller families or parents with one or two children. Officially, they are designed for 2 to 4 people and offer one large bed plus two single beds in the loft. Good for families looking for a relaxed, private, and quiet option.

3. Bungalows – plenty of privacy for families or small groups

If you want more space and privacy, you should check out the Bungalows. These feature three bedrooms, 2 king-size beds plus two single beds, space for up to 6 people, a fully equipped kitchen, spacious indoor-outdoor living areas, and even a private pool with ocean views.

4. Canopy Suites and Tree House – rather for smaller families

The Canopy Suites, depending on configuration, can accommodate up to 4 guests and feature a bedroom, living area, and kitchenette or studio layout. The iconic Tree House can also accommodate up to four guests, making it a special option for small families with an appreciation for extraordinary architecture.

What can families do at TreeCasa itself?

Particularly interesting for families are guided horseback rides, where children under 13 can ride with their parents, hikes on the grounds, guided bike tours, as well as garden and cooking experiences.

In addition, there are surf lessons for adults and children, with equipment included and small groups ensuring more personalized instruction. For many families, this is a real highlight in San Juan del Sur, as the region is internationally known for its surf spots.

Furthermore, organized day trips to other regions of Nicaragua can be booked through TreeCasa, such as to Laguna de Apoyo, Masaya Volcano National Park (absolute highlight! an active volcano with a lava lake, definitely visit after dark), Granada (beautiful city! one of our highlights!), Mombacho Cloud Forest, or even Cerro Negro for sandboarding (but only makes sense with older children). For families with older children or teenagers, this can make the vacation much more varied.

Who is the TreeCasa Hotel particularly suitable for?

The TreeCasa Hotel & Resort in San Juan del Sur is particularly suitable for families who are not just looking for a beach hotel, but a nature-oriented resort with an adventure factor. Small families will find suitable options in the Cabins, Canopy Suites, or the Tree House. Larger families or groups will benefit from the Family Suite or Bungalow. Due to the combination of nature, pool landscape, shuttle, private beach access, and bookable activities, the resort is particularly interesting as a relaxed start and crowning end to a trip to Nicaragua.
